THE BEECHES CARE HOME
RESIDENTIAL CARE
We personalise care that our residents need because we are all different. We do this through personalised care plan.
Residents might still be independent but gradually finding it more difficult to manage some of life’s everyday tasks – such as washing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
Staff at the Beeches can help you with these whilst still allowing you control over your daily routine. This allows us time to provide a greater level of care for those who need more support to residents who are more frail.
Our residents therefore can be comfortable and confident in the knowledge that these areas of their life won’t be a struggle. They can get on doing the things they love.
DEMENTIA CARE
Staff are knowledgeable and understand dementia well. They are aware that people suffering with Dementia struggle to remember things and hence find it difficult to work things out. Our staff also know that their orientation can be poor and they may struggle or may find it hard adapt to changes. Our staff will be there to support, care and reassure and try new skills or simply help to work out things.
We engage with families and friends to gain insights the residents’ life. We create life stories through recollections, sensory based activities. We also involve the community.
Our focus is to enhance the resident’s life and attempt to help overcome the emotional and practical impact that dementia has on the residents and their family.
We are here when you need us. Just get in touch to talk about the support and care you require.
RESPITE CARE
If you are providing care for your relative, there will be times when you need to take a break, to attend appointments/simply to take time out or recover from an illness or operation.
Respite care is for those wishing to stay at The Beeches for a short while. Availability is very much dependent on the number of beds we have vacant. We are flexible and will work with you. There is no minimum or maximum length of stay.
There are a number of options for respite care, including day care centres, domiciliary care and respite care in the care homes.
Day care Centres in Louth are few and far between. However we provide Domiciliary Care. Please visit the ‘Domiciliary Care‘ section of this web page. However we also provide in house respite care. We will receive your loved one and look after them whilst you have a well earned rest. Please ring us and speak to us.
You can also receive more information from other organisations such as ‘Helping Hands’. Please contact them on 0330 029 7418
Alternatively please visit the Which website and request for ‘Elderly Care’. They explain the respite care options available. They also give advice on how to choose and how to finance this type of care. It is important to note that they explain the benefits this can offer you and your loved one.
DOMICILLARY CARE
(THIS SERVICE IS IN THE PLANNING STAGE)
Although many people live independently in their own Homes, there are times when residents become frail, or being diagnosed with dementia but continue to live in their own homes with a little support and care. Our highly skilled care staff will visit them according to the number of visits they require and will provide the care. The hours are determined by Social services if they are funding the care provision or by the relatives or the residents themselves if they are funding privately.
The Beeches strongly believes that disease processes like dementia or physical disabilities due to the aging process must not mean retreating from life and all that it has to offer.
Please note: For those residents who require a little more than this like a care staff to stay with them for a period of time, the Beeches cannot offer this package at present but is a possibility in the near future . However if you ring us we will put you touch with organisations that provide this services.
ACTIVITIES
We engage in varies activities in our everyday lives. The Activities programme at the Beeches is designed to capture these simple phenomena. Keeping ourselves stimulated – in mind, body and soul.
We believe that being healthy and alert is a significant aspect in caring especially for mental agility and mobility of our residents.
We have our own and dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who creates a varied program which mirrors our everyday activities. The Beeches actively encourage our residents to take part in stimulating activities and events in their day to day life. These activities are also geared to encourage interaction amongst all our residents especially anyone who have just moved in. Activities provide interaction amongst our residents, staff, relatives and friends. It is indeed a great source of fun.
The Activity co-ordinator creates a programme which is displayed on the Activity Board. The programmes are varied – gentle exercises, bingo, flower arranging, music therapy (including singers), baking, sing along, quiz, visiting pets, visits to the town and many more.
Where a resident is in bed or unable to participate in our activities, we can organize one to one activities.
The idea behind our extensive programme residents don’t just suddenly stop doing the things they love because they moved into a care Home – quite the reverse. We in the Beeches believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
